Cats Now 'Caboodling' in Cook Islands
In its bid to help sick, injured and disowned cats in the Cook Islands, Catmax has worked with the local Esther Honey Foundation to move cats-in-waiting from small holding cages into a large caboodle complete with palm trees and climbing poles.
The donation of the Catmax Caboodle® resulted from the combined efforts of Brisbane cat-lover Mr John Simpson, Mrs Mel White and the team of staff and volunteers at RSPCA Queensland together with the manufacturer of the Caboodle®, Mr Paul Chapman.
"With up to 2000 cats and kittens being treated through the Esther Honey Foundation in any one year, the need for a large, safe enclosure was clear," said Mr Paul Chapman, Managing Director of Catmax.
"The previous facilities were literally carry-cages.
"The Foundation works on such an extremely limited budget, that something like the Caboodle®, even though it was desperately needed, was just completely out of their reach.
"I admire these organisations, they save so many animals' lives and their volunteers are tireless, dedicated, unsung heroes; so we were pleased to help and do our bit," he said.
The Esther Honey Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that cares for sick, injured and abandoned domestic animals throughout the entire South Pacific region and relies solely on the work of its volunteers together with donations that are often ‘in kind' rather than financial.
